Welcome to The Herd Project!

We are an online support group for survivors of sexual violence. Survivors have an uphill battle against social norms that try to make them responsible for a crime that was never theirs. We are here to remind them, and remind you, that these crimes do not have to destroy our lives. The pain and the scars will never go away. But we can become a greater force than these, working beyond and through our experiences to create a better, safer world for those that come after us.

If you or someone you know is a survivor of sexual violence, we are here to tell you, as many times as you need to hear it that this does not change who you are, how beautiful you are, and the amazing things you are going to do with your life.

The Herd Project is our way of sharing the support we as survivors have found with those that do not have good support around them. There is plenty of love and goodness in the world to pull all of us out of this darkness, if we will only share it with one another.

Sharing your own message

If you would like to join the conversation, we invite you to create a video message of your own. Once you are done, visit our “Upload” page to share your video with us.

A few tips for making your own video message:

  1. Write down what you want to say first.
  2. Keep it simple.
  3. Speak what you know.
  4. If you’re a survivor, say what you needed to hear. There are many who need to hear it right now.
  5. If you’re a supporter, think of how you would remind your loved ones how precious they are, regardless of what happened to them.
